When is an EU Responsible Person required?
For consumer products covered by the GPSR and offered on the EU market, a responsible economic operator established in the EU must be identified when the manufacturer is outside the EU. The exact role depends on the supply chain and product.
Does the mandate automatically cover the entire catalogue?
No. Only products, variants or families expressly accepted and listed in the active mandate are covered.
When does the service become active?
After the file has been reviewed and accepted, the entity has been assigned, the mandate has been signed by the parties and the applicable payment has been confirmed.
Does the Responsible Person replace the importer?
No. The GPSR Responsible Person, importer, distributor, fiscal representative and customs declarant are distinct roles, although some obligations may overlap.
Does the manufacturer remain responsible for product safety?
Yes. The manufacturer remains responsible in particular for design, risk assessment, conformity, traceability and product-safety information.
What information must appear in an online offer?
For a distance sale covered by the GPSR, the offer must notably identify the manufacturer and, where the manufacturer is outside the EU, the Responsible Person, as well as the product and applicable warnings or safety information.
